Originally I had worried that having a reunion celebration on the 20th anniversary of 9/11 would bring “bad karma”. However, it was quite the opposite as our hometown put on a moving and very appropriate remembrance with a city-sponsored early morning “9/11 Run” and a beautiful ceremony in Breitbeck Park. This short video highlights the latter (mostly the music).
The Sounds of our Time
These are the playlists compiled for the reunion. The Party Mix was played at the Friday night event. The Deep Mix is for the hard core who really want to hear the full “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida”, the long version of “Light My Fire”, or the epic guitar solo in “Child in Time”. All songs were released between summer ’67 and summer ’71 with a few earlier “standards” in the mix. If you are an Apple Music subscriber, you can import these playlists into your player app and hit shuffle to join the party. If not, it’s still a fun list to browse. Lists are alphabetic by group name or artist last name. Comment below if I’ve missed some highlight of our high school years. I’ll add it for the next party.
